There’s a cracker in store at Villa Park tonight as Aston Villa take on Leeds Utd in the Championship (KO 19:45).
Both these sides are in superb form at the moment, and with both having eyes on a return to the Premier League, both teams will be eager to take the spoils as this one could really impact the final standings in the division.
Its been a remarkable turnaround for Aston Villa since the arrival of Steve Bruce, following the dismissal of Roberto Di Matteo, and the side has steadily moved up the table. Five wins in a row at home have pushed the side up to tenth in the division, and with the side now seriously eyeing a late charge into the playoffs they are certainly a side to keep one eye on as we approach the New Year.
The same can be said for Leeds and their boss Garry Monk, who has come in after his dismissal from Premier League Swansea City and stamped his style and authority on a previously beleaguered Leeds side.
The former Southampton man has brought in a few players from his former club, with Pablo Hernandez making an impression in front of goal and Kyle Bartley tightening the side up at the back.
Monk’s Leeds now lie in fifth spot in the Championship, having six out of their last eight matches. Their away form is particularly impressive, having won four out their last five trips on road.
For Villa, Ashley Westwood, Jack Grealish, Jordan Ayew, Gabby Agbonlahor and Rudy Gestede will be be looking for a return to the starting XI, while Chris Wood could make a return for the Lilywhites after recovering from injury.
We could be set for a classic with a winner difficult to pick, but with Bet365 offering 11/10 on the home win, that price is difficult to pass.
